Somebody once told me, "There is no perfect formula or recipe for love..."
Nah, I just made that up!
Still, don't we all agree? I mean, in my opinion, if there exists an exact formula or recipe which is fool-proof every single time, then maybe I didn't have to go all through those X number of relationships I had before finding The One (Yihee!). And if such thing exists, then maybe once we've all find our "The Ones" then we'll never ever have to fight or disagree with them again. Not even once. Right?
While there may be no surefire techniques on making a relationship successful, whether it be between husbands and wives, boyfriends and girlfriends, husbands and husbands, wives and wives, boyfriends and boyfriends, girlfriends and girlfriends, and all other possible combinations you can think of, there actually exists some NON-NEGOTIABLES. You know, things that are necessary in order to build a strong foundation for your relationships.
This is what Keeping Score is all about. It is a quick guide on love and relationships, written in a simple and concise 100+ page book. According to the author, Marc Brackett, it's a "relationship book even a man can understand..." It offers no-frills, no-BS tips which are easy to remember and implement. Perfect for single guys and gals - so you can check your current expectations and prepare yourself for that one person you are meant to be with, and for those who are already in a relationship - in order to identify where you and your partner stand at this point and check which areas are in need of improvement. I'd like to emphasize that it's a SHORT read. It will only take you a few hours to finish the book and you can immediately proceed to applying your learnings right then and there.
As a special treat, the author sent me a second copy of the book so I can give it away to one lucky reader of this review. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, saying why you want to win the book. Open to all readers with a valid Philippine mailing address. Or if you're from Davao City, I can personally give you your prize. Contest ends at midnight (Philippine Time) on February 17, 2013 (Sunday) and the winner will be randomly selected and announced on Monday. Easy-peasy...
Happy Hearts' Day y'all! :)

Hi Cham,
ReplyDeleteI want to win this book because your line said it all "so you can check your current expectations and prepare yourself for that one person you are meant to be with." Some well-meaning friends told me I'm Martha Stewart with relationships - I want perfection down to the most minute details. This book would help me get the lowdown on what the negotiables are and those that I don't have to lose sleep over. :)
It's a perfect V-Day gift for me and for that someone I am destined to grow old, grey and wrinkled with. Oh and by the way, I'm from Davao City. Happy valentine's day to you and your readers!
Hi Lany! Indeed, we've been duped by fairytales when we were little girls and then voila! Real relationships are not actually maintenance-free pala! Thanks for joining... :)
DeleteI want to win this book because I'm all about learning relationships. If you can check my bookshelf, I have a lot. I'm excited to read what's inside. I may not have the perfect relationship but having something close to that is a relief. I want! I want!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Shiney! So... hopeless romantic pala ang peg mo? Hihi... I should see your bookshelves soon... Thanks for joining! :)
DeleteI want to win this book because I'd love to add it in my collection :) Getting new books every now and then makes me really happy, <3
ReplyDeleteKeeping Score is definitely a must-have especially for someone like me who needs some guide about love and relationships!
Hello Algene a.k.a Best Personal Blogger of 2012. Hihi. Nice to see you hear, fellow book hoarder, err, COLLECTOR! Thanks for joining! :)
DeleteI am too scared to be in a relationship for now because I am afraid I'd fail or I fall short during the process. I have always thought that maybe I should spend more time being single and learn things with regards to having a partner through friends. I, ridiculously, do this because, well, I'm afraid to take the risk.
ReplyDeleteI would love to read this book. It interests me so much now that I think I am in the right age to handle a relationship. I know I'd fail at some point but this book could give me ideas and guidance through the days.
Hi Debs! I really thought cliche yun when people say that you should LOVE YOURSELF FIRST before learning to love someone else. Well, totoo pala yun. Trust me, it really is... Thanks for joining! :)

DeleteHi Cham,
ReplyDeleteI want to win that book. Well, I haven't had those regrettable relationships. As a matter of fact, I just have one boyfriend (my present relationship) and I know it won't hurt if I'd get an advice supported by an in-depth study. I've also read "How to Find Your One True Love" by Bo Sanchez which is inclined in doing God's ways to attract the opposite sex. I'm open to a wider option and I think this book would be very helpful :)
Lola's girl,
Pau :)
