Of Cubes and Stubbornness...

This is my first ever Origami Cube...

And believe it or not, it took me a little less than three hours to finally make it. I first thought of making one when I saw a tutorial posted on the Web. I was like, "Hey, that looks easy. And so cute too!"

I was wrong.

Because if I was right, then I probably didn't need three hours to make this cube, I wouldn't find my little project worth taking pictures of, and I wouldn't be writing this post right now. Upon closer examination, which can only be done in person, you'll see that my cube isn't even perfect. Some of the white and pink triangles are not in the correct places... You know, like what they show you in those deceitful tutorials. (By the way, it took me four different tutorials to finally get it.)

But it doesn't matter.

I got what I need out of this miniscule project.

I realized... how STUBBORN I can be when I want to. How steadfast my resolve can be when I want something real bad. That no matter how many times I wanted to quit and dump all those unfinished sections of this cube, I just couldn't. I knew at that moment that I will never forgive myself  if I give up on something as small and "shallow" as this one.

Being stubborn has its silver lining too. It's time to put it to very good use.

  1. Stubborn is good. When everyone around you has given up, you'll keep going. And you'll live longer, too.
